TV guest booking producer
The UAE’s independent production company GHAF TV PRODUCTIONS FZ LLC is looking for a talented, confident and enthusiastic individual to join our team in Dubai as a full-time Guest Booker, working on the internationally renowned current affairs programme, Going Underground and our newest programme, New Order. Both shows reach 2.5 billion viewers on TV broadcast alone.
What ARE the showS?
Going Underground is a bi-weekly programme (pre-recorded as live) that offers a fresh perspective on global news and events. Our wide-ranging interviews include world leaders, global politicians, authors, entertainers, and leading experts in different fields, from all around the globe. The show has been broadcasting for over a decade, initially being produced in London, before recently relocating to the heart of the Middle East in 2022. It is sold to overseas territories in different languages including English, Spanish, and Arabic, and is distributed online and broadcast on international television channels.
New Order is a weekly programme (also pre-recorded as live) about how power, alliances, money, technology and infrastructure are being reshaped as the world’s centre of gravity is shifting. We place India as part of the focus in the conversation but not limit to it only. It’s about how India and the wider Global South are navigating new alignments and which partnerships are emerging. The show connects what is happening in India and the Global South to wider shifts in the world and vice versa. We cover global stories that represent shifts and trends, as well as important political and economic stories of the week.
What is the role?
The successful candidate will be dedicated to finding and liaising with high-profile, international political guests for the shows, Going Underground and New Order. Previous guests on the show have included world leaders such as Brazil’s President Lula Da Silva, then Pakistan PM Imran Khan, former Israeli PM Ehud Barak, former UN Secretaries-General Ban-Ki Moon, journalists such as Julian Assange, and entertainers such as Dolly Parton and Pink Floyd’s Roger Waters.
They will work in conjunction with another booker to come up with guest ideas that are suitable for the programme, find contacts for and book guests, and be across global news and geopolitics. They will also be required to find and attend networking events to increase their contacts list. Due to our international guests being in various time zones around the world, working hours will vary (evenings and weekends will be required).
Who are we looking for?
The ideal candidate will be able to start immediately and must be based in the UAE.
We are looking for someone with a passion for global news and politics, who has a strong contacts list and the ability to foster connections with those contacts. They must have a good understanding of geopolitics, strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work in a high-stress environment and come up with solutions when issues arise.
Key Responsibilities:
Find and book high-profile guests for the shows, Going Underground and New Order.
Co-ordinate the scheduling of guests.
Grow and maintain relationships with existing guests and potential guests.
Liaise with the team of producers.
Be proactive in keeping abreast with global affairs and world events, and keen to pitch story ideas in line with the ethos of the show.
Attend local networking events to increase contacts list.
Skills required:
A proven track record in booking guests for TV news programmes.
Possession of an existing contacts list.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
Excellent knowledge of geopolitics, news, and current affairs.
Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
Excellent command of the English language.
